How long have you been modeling, and how did you get started?
I began modeling in 2008, my first few gigs were working at the tradeshows in Las Vegas.  I began working with local photographers and shortly after I signed with Prestigious Models.  Since then, I’ve been able to experience some really great opportunities and have met amazing people along the way!

What are some of your modeling highlights so far?
Being sponsored by Spotlight definitely is a highlight for me

What do you do for fun?
When I’m not dealing with school and studying or working, I love to spend time with family and friends.  I love dining out, shopping, partying, and traveling.  If I’m not in the “party-mode,” I like to watch DVDs and try to catch up on the five books I’m trying to finish reading.

What is your best beauty secret?
People always tend to ask what products I use, so here it is… I love Aveda products!  Also, a lot of rest and drinking plenty of water helps, as well.

What are some of your upcoming projects?
www.mariel-mendoza.com was just recently launched and is still under construction.  I have so many ideas and plans for the site in mind.  I can’t wait to finally sit down and work on it.  It’ll definitely be a great way for me to channel out who I am to those who follow me, and it’ll help people continue to stay in touch with me.

Do you have any advice for aspiring models?
Know what you want from the beginning, which means set yourself goals.  Work hard to get to those goals but don’t ever compromise your morals or beliefs.  Be smart and always trust your gut instinct.  Other than that, be fabulous and have fun!

Why do you love 12VSpotlight?
It’s just so handy!  I have a purple one attached to my keys and I’ve found myself using it when coming home during late nights to help myself maneuver around the house (I hate turning on the lights, my dog wakes up and starts barking, haha).  My friends love theirs as well!
